1992
It all started in 1992, when we arrived at the plot as children. We got the land through the IDA and began growing cucumber and peppers, later yuca, rice and beans.
1999
In 1999 we switched to ornamental plants: for nine years we grew and exported around 20,000 plants a month, foliage and heliconias.
2008
In 2008, as the ornamental market collapsed, the first foreign visitors turned up at the farm by chance — a Canadian family. That is where agrotourism began, without us planning it.
2011
In 2011 we started the project from scratch, knocking on doors and working with tour operators. Today the whole family runs the farm, each of us in our own role, with the same idea as always: that whoever visits leaves with an experience worth remembering.

Don Rodolfo has spent his life working the land. His knowledge of crops, their cycles and their uses is an essential part of every Finca Surá tour. Today, that knowledge is shared with visitors and carried forward through a business in which the whole family takes part.
